🏊🏼 Our Home Away From Home

Our swim team’s home away from home this summer will be Del Norte/Eastgate Pool.

The kind folks at Del Norte/Eastgate have been incredibly gracious and have worked with us to ensure we have a place to practice from the week of Memorial Day through Divisionals.

In addition, we are currently working with Westside Aquatic Center and the Eastside YMCA to secure lane rentals for May 5–20.

So, for all of our sweet littles who didn’t love the cold water early in the season last year — this is your lucky year! You’ll start indoors in a climate-controlled pool.

💰Swim Team Membership

Because of our unique situation this summer, SAIL has waived the “must have a full family membership” rule for our team.

Since Wellington Green is still under construction and unable to open, you do NOT need to pay a pool membership fee to be on our team this year.

You will only need to pay the Swim Team registration fee.

We hope to open swim team registration within the next couple of weeks.

🏖️ Pool Membership Opportunity

We know that going to the pool is a big part of summer (mine included!), and many of you may still want a pool to enjoy.

The board of Del Norte/Eastgate has graciously decided to open their pool membership to our swim team families. Even better, they are allowing WG families to join at their resident rate, which is a significant discount.

Please see the attached document for all membership details. Important notes:

• Joining Del Norte/Eastgate is completely optional.
• If you do not join, swimmers may not stay and play after practice unless they are a paying guest of a member family.

🏊🏼Joining Another Pool

Because of our circumstances this year, SAIL is allowing WG swimmers to join another pool and still swim with our team.

So if you have the opportunity to join another pool this summer, you may do so and still swim for WG this season.

Please note:

This exception applies for this summer only. Once Wellington Green reopens, SAIL rules require swimmers to compete for the team at the pool where they hold membership.

🤝 Welcoming Del Norte/Eastgate Swimmers

We will also be opening our swim team registration to members of the Del Norte/Eastgate pool, so hopefully we’ll welcome a few new swimmers to the Gator family this summer!We love you all and are so happy to have you back for another fun — albeit non-traditional — summer.

The Wellington Green pool is operated and maintained by the Wellington Green Recreational Association (WGRA) and you can follow the link to their site to get more information about a summer pool membership.

After you have a pool membership, the swim team is a great way to help your kids, ages 5-18, learn to swim or improve their swimming skills and love for swimming, in a fun and competitive environment. Coaches work with the kids during practices during the summer, and then we have swim meets with other area pools to put their skills to the test.

Swim team is also a great family activity. It takes many people to run a swim meet, so parents are required to volunteer in some capacity. Some volunteer positions require a greater knowledge of swimming, but there are many volunteer positions that require just a willing person.

We always need volunteers.  Meets go faster if you volunteer.  Key Volunteer Roles needed are...

For the 2025 Season SAIL is working on customized training that will all be done virtually.  This means that you will not need to attend a classroom session to be certified as Clerk of Course, Stroke & Turn, Starter or Referee.  We will let you know once these courses are available.
